HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — The former owner of a western Maryland assisted-living center where an Alzheimer’s patient fell through the floor of a room into the floor below has pleaded guilty in the incident.

Dickson O. Tabi, 54, of Silver Spring last week pleaded guilty to neglect of a vulnerable adult resulting in physical injury in Washington County Circuit Court.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that prosecutors say in August 2012, the 84-year-old woman fell through the floor at the former Soma Manor House in Boonsboro. She suffered several broken bones and a severe head injury.

Prosecutors say Tabi denied knowing how the woman was injured, and later told investigators he panicked after the woman fell.

Tabi faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
